The local area is ideal for a whole host of various activities,
including walking, fishing (rods/tackle on site) cycling (cycles
available), golf, (ladies/gents clubs on site to borrow). There
are two golf courses within 5 minutes drive. We also have two
kayaks (triple seat and solo) should you wish to get out on
the water.
If you like painting, there is a fully equipped
studio on site where you may enjoy a few hours of peace and
tranquillity (lessons available if you have never painted before
but wish to try).
The area has a huge variety of scenic opportunities, majestic
views and colourful panoramas from mountains and rugged rocks
to small secluded inlets and bays to vast beaches and rocky
cliffs bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Take a drive down to the
Mizen Head peninsula, the most western point in Ireland and
view the famous Fastnet Rock. Enjoy a drink in the pub in Crookhaven.
Visit the famous Gouganne Barra (35 mins drive) or head out
over the Priest's Leap towards Kenmare and Killarney to visit
the lakes and mountains of Kerry. Cork city is only just over
an hour away with Blarney Castle and the small historic town
of Cobh (pronounced Cove) nearby.
Visit the seaside towns of Kinsale, Clonakilty, Skibbereen
and Schull. There are an abundance of good restaurants within
the area catering for all tastes and budgets.
The Beara peninsula and the "Ring of Kerry" both provide wonderful
days out should you prefer more adventurous forays into the
depths of Irish rural life.
